FIRST: I know it's not an acid jazz topic, but sometimes we must deviate....

Thanks to all who responded to my question: "is rap dead". Here's the
skinny.....

I believe that rap will never die, but will exist similar to our parent's
funk/rock and roll era. Think about it! The eighties were an ugly
extention of what the musicians of the late '60s and early '70s created.
Time's changed, and rock and roll kept rockin', but it wasn't the same.

Now, we're in the '90's, and I feel the same way about hip hop. Whether
it's underground or not, hip hop has come to that point where it's
unfocused, with no understood direction. It's lost its innocence, and its
freedom of interpretation. Nowdays, it's either ganster rap, east coast,
or west coast...nice, neat and catagorized for the clerks at Sam Goody's.

Of course I'll keep buying hip hop...the latest release from Nas, the new
tape from Outcast, the new Dre production, but it just doesn't feel the
same.................

-------------------------------------------
BACKGROUND: I have been producing hip hop tracks for the last 8 years. I
have songs out by Cypress Hill, Sister's With Voices, Me Phi Me, and
others you know. I currently have a series of breakbeat albums: "Finger
Juice- Broke Beats", "Drum Crazy Volume 1 thru 5", and the breakbeat
sample-CD series "Rhythm Madness". Go out and support a brother.......

Q: WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH THE ACID JAZZ/TRIP HOP SCENE?
A: Different music..... same path......

OUT!
