I kind of disagree with you guys on the production. Some of it is kind of
sketchy as far as the levels go, but I really like the "murkiness" of it. To
me, there's a nice warm, low end feel to it. I think this reflects the
Digables mood and style in this album, laid back almost stony sounding (y'know
hat I mean, right?). Plus, I think this is meant to be cruising jeep music.
God knows at times it reminds me of all the people who cruise Waikiki on Friday
nights here in Hawaii (though this album is light years better than any lame
ass "Bass" album). I think all of the effect of the album would have been lost
if it had a crisp production sound (which I think is an annoying trend in the
industry).

I agree. The cd version is kind of murky, too. After reading through this
thread, I also pulled it back out of my collection, and gave it another
listen. I guess that it wasn't as bad as I had originally thought.
However, the overall sound and feel of the work isn't as appealing to me as
the music on "Reachin'".

BTW, I saw Digable on the "Comb" tour and thought that they were pretty
lackluster. there seemed to be something going on, and I don't want to
conjecture, but Ladybug seemed to be really out of it. It was a good time,
though, especially since the opening act (Spearhead) just blew everybody
away. I'd never heard of them before. Franti was incredible.

a few cents to throw in.
