Red Hot and Cool is a good base from which to explore the world of
"acid jazz." If you liked "Flyin High..." check out the first two Digable
Planets albums. I first got turned on to this crazy thing we call Acid
Jazz after seeing them live in a tiny club called the Library Cafe
in Phoenix. I began searching for more music like theirs, and stumbled
onto the wonderfully funky music for which this list is devoted to! It's
interesting how so many of us come from such a motley assortment of musical
tastes and all have learned to love acid jazz. I have since moved further
away from the more hip-hop & rap (there is a difference) side of acid
jazz to the more traditional stylin's of groups like U.F.O. or the
deeply textured sounds of Massive Attack (which I bet you'll find you
like). Happy hunting!
