Jim asked: "Has anybody liked the Howie B. redo of New Order's "Age of
Consent"?"

It is a good remix, but not one of Howie's best. It sounds to me like he was
given some guidelines (like "keep the vocal in") to work with, instead of being
allowed to roam free. His remix of Annie Lennox's cover of "Waiting In Vain"
(that's right) is the same way... good, but restrained. For pure Howie remix
power, see if you can find his remix of Raw Stylus' "Pass Me By" (maybe
promo-only, as far as I know). An incredible mix... pure Howie! Tons of dirty
hip hop drum loops, old synth noises, and a cut up vocal revealing only a little
bit of the original source. Magnificent. Has anyone heard his recent Model 500
remix for R&S?

Jim also remarked: "Would I be dated myself too much by admitting "Power,
Corruption, and Lies" was a very important album for me 13 or so years ago?"

I'll be even more dated by saying that not only was it an important album for me
13 years ago, it's an important album for me today. A massive work that still
holds up in a modern context. A lot of us electronic musicians owe a lot to the
early experimentation of those dudes.

PEACE spread...
