Saw Cornell Dupree last night. Performed in Sydney Australia with a pick
up band at the Basement. Was a great show overall. It is great to see a
musician who has such a fine command of his instrument. While the bulk of
the material was 70's style funk jazz, with an emphais on his guitar
playing, he did a slow blues which just burned like a motherf***er. His
combination opf rhythmn and lead guitar was brilliant. Particularly the
way he combined blues lines with jazz chords. The only criticism I have
is that at times it became a touch fuzak. Kinda like blando mid80's
fusion. Otherwise if the man plays in your town go and see Cornell Dupree
as he is a master guitarist. Give him his just deserts!!!!!
