I'm about two weeks too lat with this title entry for the CD
sampler but how does "Many Styles: Worldwide Jazz Volume #1"
sound? I'm giving up the name of my mixed tapes, "Many
Styles: Qool Jazz Mixed Tape Series," but if you all liked
it...what the heck, feel free to use it.

A little while ago I posted that I was actually stretching a
little past mixed tapes and finally getting some gigs in New
York. I don't think that there are 100's New Yorkers on the
list so please e-mail me if you want to be on my guest list.

New Breed Records and The Party Committe threw a party a
couple of weeks ago at Trip where I was tapped, thankfully
by Ivan & Dave at New Breed, to open for Smash. The party
is called HiFi and will be a monthly event, probably on
Saturday's starting again in October. The next joint is
tentatively scheduled for October 21st and I'll be opening
again.

These HiFi jams will include a variety of music dipping in
and out of acid jazz, funk/soul classics, hip hop, and
reggae, with of course, a live performance element to it.
I finally had a sit down with Smash just to rap not so much
about music but just about whatever. He is trying to do a
lot more producing in the near future, in fact he has a
special cassette with a lot of the remixs that he has done
for a laundry list of artists...I do think that this a
in-house type thing that will not be for release, just to
A&R guys and such.

He's crazy cool and smooth, I was ready to call him Qool
Smash. Y'all should have seen two mellow dudes talking
about 70's soul...it was real qool.
Big ups to Smash.

Ar'ight, I'm now spinning at BAR 6 (6th Avenue between 12th
and 13th). BAR 6 is a cozy get your food & drink on spot
just above the busy part of the Village that features DJs 7
days a week. I was there last night with my old lady and
the DJ was kickin' ass with the funk/soul classics. The
place was packed on a Sunday. On Wednesday, when I spin,
the crowd was at about 75% but I'm putting it out on the
line to get some true acid-jazzers up in the house. No
cover so come on out, but you will need to drink something
or order an appetizer. Wednesday nights y'all, come on out!

I can't wait for the sampler CD...can we pleeeeeeaaaaase
have some vinyl cause I DON'T mix CDs? I'm sure other DJs
on here agree???

Be Qool Y'all...
