Hmmm... I've noticed the same deadhead kind of crowd digging the jazzy
stuff here in T.O. as well and was kind of mysified by it at first and
thought it was a local thing.

When we ran our AJ nights at the El Mocambo last year I noticed these
'earthy types' coming in mixing with the regulars at first which I didn't
expect at all.

The One Step Beyond record release last week was wall to wall (400?) with
what appeared to be deadheads and white dreadlocked hippies seriously grooving
to the vibe.

The Medeski Martin + Wood show we did last year was a stright up jazzier
type crowd though.

I'm not trying to be a style nazi here so please don't flame me on that tip,
I know its all good and hell I saw the Dead in '79 myself.

As a promoter though, I would never have flyered one one these folks for a
soul/jazz event.

In the end all the cliches about judging folks on appearance are true - or
I could just add another appearance to my prejudgement now ;)
