Speaking of the jazzy shit, I just picked up some NICE jungle here in
Detroit. I take back my previous assessment of Alex Reece, his "I Want
You/B-Boy Flavour" Metalheadz release is the shit! Also: State Logik on
Renegade, Ultimate Vibes EP on Subversive, and the 4Hero mix of Courtney
Pine's "I've Known Rivers" are all on a smoothed out jazz meets jungle
tip. That Pressure Drop mix of Rivers is real nice too.
Also, peep this German crew called Visit Venus. I got something
called Magic Fly/Variations and it is some seriously progressive
hip-hop/space dub/jungle jazz kind of shit. Smokin'! On Yo' Mama records.
And finally, why do a lot of cut and paste jungle beats end up
sounding like someone ripping up a jazz solo on the traps? Hmmm. .. not
as far off as we thought, huh? Over and out-
