Who out there remembers ramblin? Fuck all that Hires foam on your
face type shit, I was rockin the ramblin.
But seriously, I did have a few good reasons to post a post.
Picked up some records recently, for one. James Bong picturesdisc on
2Kool. Somebody mentioned this recently, and I have to give the big ups
as well. There is this butter track that consists of drum progrmamming, a
few samples, and an upright bass getting loose on the live. Its really an
interesting combination of sounds and musical techniques for those in the
"bridging gaps" mode like myself. What else was good . . . hmm . . . too
much C3-PO(t). May be a little late on this one, but the Cup of Tea
Purple Penguins has a really dark, religous-themed mix via Monk &
Canatella (if you haven't picked up there 12" on C.O.T., do so . . . fly
fishing kind of shit). And the DJ Food 5&6 remix series is dope! Luke
Vibert (Wagon Christ) drops the serious, serious mix. Dr. Rocket (is that
it?) offers up some nice electro stylee shit, and the Jeep-Beat
Collective schools suckas as usual. Definately pick it up. By the way,
heard 3&4 are not all that. Can anyone back this up?
What else, what else. Will be DRIVING to San Francisco tommorow
after a gig in Detroit. Around 4am. Anybody have any suggestions, for the
trip itself or "acid jazz" related goings-on in SF? I've got this list of
stuff, but if I've missed something imperitive on the makeshift agenda,
clue me in. Bambi- will check you out if I get in on time. Jungle gig . .
.hmm . . . could be fresh. Detroit hasn't offered up some drum & bass in
a long while (wait, never). Should be a learning experience.
Other useless banter? Worked on this mix-tape tonight. For all
those whoe are creating and have not yet aquired studio equipment, I
highly recommend tweaking the realm of the mixtape. So many
possibilities. Live sonic collaging. Ours turned out really nice, a
perfect balance of DJ guiding and instrumental proliferating, not to
mention some poetic wisdom courtesy my main man A10. Its ghetto style,
for sure, but sometimes hearing mistakes in the mix is a gratifying thing
("we're all human"). Rest assured, they are subtle. The product is all
about dicing, traversing, vibesing, cutting, strutting, texturing,
realaxing, dubbing, and living. Real-life astral wandering. Anybody
interested in peeping a copy can e-mail me, and I'll hook you up. Look
for a mixtape review in the URB soon!
Speaking of, when is the next issue due out? The Goldie issue was
beautiful.
And to all headz, I woule urge any and all of you interested in the
state of hip-hop to read Bambaataa's personal statement, located at :
	http://www.eline.com/DaveyD/BombMagazine/bbamstatement.html
Widsom from the godfather himself, words very applicable to most all of
the discussions at this site.
Well, I could say more, but I might be ramblin. May everybody
present truly experience peace of mind; its a quest that music can
fulfill. Outie-
