If your into the groove of blaxploitation films, you may want to check out
some "brownsploitation" flicks - Hindi movies out of India during the late
70s early 80s. The popular Hindi cinema scene was heavily influenced by
blaxploitation films and flicks like "The Godfather". You may want to
check out the movies themselves, especially the chase and dramatic scenes from
this era. I can't remember all the titles I've seen (you reach
a point where you've watched enough Hindi movies that the titles become
irrelevant :-) ) but the Hindi equivalent of "SHAFT" back in the day had to be
the Film "QURBANI". There's was also the film (I'm not sure of the title)
where the hero of the movie proudly proclaims "I am a Disco Dancer!"

If there is a "Little India" in your city, you can most likely find a hindi
movie rental place there along with tapes and CDs but I've found that within
the movie itself is where the best grooves are found. BTW, if you're watching
a hindi film, if you want to make it sound like a typical movie theater in
India, turn up the volume real loud and jack up the treble for the full
experience :-)
