Hear hear. So, I'm taking the original post in the way it was intended, and
here's my 'Real World Top Ten' - in no particular order:
        'One Second' - Yello
I walked into a friend's house once, and he was playing this
at extreme volume, and I'd never heard anything quite so
rhythmic and driving. Bought it an hour later.
'Negro Prison Blues and Songs' - Prisoners of the Mississippi &
Louisiana State Penitentiaries
No instruments - just prison chants and the sounds of men
working.

        'Radar' - Earthling
About the only music with 'rap' style vocals I can into -
and get into in a big way. Rap with a trip-hop overdose.
'This is Acid Jazz....After Hours' - Various
Just wonderful very laid-back grooves - Marden Hill, 9 Lazy
9, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Brooklyn Funk Essentials
etc. 4am, lying on the couch, smoking a huge spliff music.
        '(I'm) Stranded' - The Saints
One of the original punk bands. They did something notable -
had the first ever punk single in the Top 40, or something
like that. From my home town of Brisbane, Australia. Powerful stuff.
'Sad But True' - Tex Perkins, Don Walker, Charlie Owen
Three of Australia's well-known (in Oz, anyway) musicians.
Tex from The Beasts of Bourbon and The Cruel Sea, Don from
Cold Chisel, and Charlie from I can't remember where. Playing very mellow
alternative country.
'The Fried Funk Food' EP - Freak Power
Bought the 'Drive Thru' Booty' album on the strength of a
track I heard somewhere, aand got blown away by the bonus
CD. My first ever taste of 'trip-hop'.
        'Hunky Dory' - David Bowie
Back to the '70's when Bowie was goooood!
        'Funkjazztical Tricknology' - Various
                Need I say anything?
        'Dummy' - Portishead
I still plan to buried with this album - just in case
ther'es a CD player wherever it is I'm going.
Marc.
(Now Playing: 'Hunky Dory' - David Bowie)
