          "Two Enthusiastic thumbs up!"
          CASPER MELVILLE, KUSF SAN FRANCISO
Spontaneous and meticulous, spacey and frenetic, a fusion of turntable
techniques, beats and jazz sensibilities 'One Street Over' heralds the
arrival of a new sound from San Francisco's effervescent music scene.
Combining the best local musicians with unique club production Better daze
have created an album that will appeal to beatheads, dancefloors, and music
lovers alike.
Andrew Jervis, editor of On The One magazine, radio and club DJ, teamed up
with studio scientist and recording artist Paul Scriver (Neomythic, Paul
Scriver). By fusing their differing perspectives as Better Daze they have
given way to an album that ignores genres and barriers. You'll hear drum and
bass programming and manic percussion next to poetry and folksy guitars.
"Through a kind electronic alchemy we have come up with a type of music that
seems to have a vista broad as an ocean," says Scriver.
This full-length LP features ace Latin percussionists Derek Zimmerman, Dennis
Broughton from legendary Viva Brazil, Karl Denson from the Greyboy All-stars
playing flute, Vijay Iyer from Steve Coleman and the Five Elements and
vocalists including club diva Terra Deva, sultry Jenifer Freebairn-Smith and
the very soulful Bil Ringgenberg of Monkey Walk.
(2) SLIDE FIVE - RHODE TRIP

          of something truly big, indeed."
          Straight No Chaser
"Since their 12" came out ..., the buzz
          around town has been incredible.
These young cats are talented and spirited."
          Urb Magazine
"...and with groups like Slide 5, Charlie
          Hunter Trio, and Broun Fellinis,
San Francisco has also become a hotbed
          of new-groove experimentation."
          Rolling Stone
"Rhode Trip" is the first full-length offering from the
incredibly-talented Bay Area groovers, Slide Five. Appearing previously

acclaim for their unique style and tasty live performances. "Rhode
Trip" is a compilation of tracks created between late 1992 and 1993 that
were previously released as an underground cassette tape. Slide Five is

(featuring DR. OCTAGON - aka Kool Keith of the Ultramagnetic MCs

Ubiquity's newest artist, Automator. A veteran Bay Area producer, the
Automator has created tracks for many highly-regarded artists and
produced the now infamous album DR. OCTAGON (aka Kool Keith of the
Ultramagnetic MCs fame). Automator is also known for his work with
similarly-styled DJ Shadow (who recorded many of his hits at The Glue
Factory - Automator's personal studio), and for his tracks on Ubiquity's
Cookin' series, and for producing the recently released Dr. Octogon album.

(4) WHAT'S COOKIN' - various artist compilation
-----------------------------------------------
The first in the series was released in 1993 and aptly named Home Cookin' .
The Cookin' series combines the beats and techniques of deejays and
producers with the soul, instrumentation an improvisation of jazz.
Several of the acts that appeared on Home Cookin' resurfaced on the
sequels Mo' Cookin' and Still Cookin', and a few have gone on to record
full-length releases for Ubiquity. Greyboy followed up his debut on Home
Cookin' with Freestylin' and Land of the Lost , both of which received
critical acclaim, radio air play and placement in several films from
underground snowboard videos to the feature, Get Shorty. Cookin'
veterans Slide 5, Spirit Level and The Automator have also recorded their
