Having recently obtained this CD, subtitled "beats from the underground,"
I thought I'd serve up a brief comment on it. This comp should please
those who like the slow and trippy grooves, often delivered from the
"sub-basement" of the audio spectrum. Many of the tracks have a somber,
rather ominous tone, the kind of sounds that work on your psyche in the
very early hours of the morning when the lights are down low and strange
things happen in the dark recesses of the mind.

Several of the artists on this comp I've got on other comps: Exodus
Quartet, Shantel, Jazzadelics, and Diferenz. The Diferenz track is on
their full-length "Jazz Workshop" recording, a satisfying effort that can
be compared to Funki Porcini's "hed phone sex" or 9-Lazy-9's "the herb,"
but with somewhat less creativity--probably closer to the sound of
Hedfunk. But the track on this comp excels for it's mellow organ chords.

Who the hell is Beanfield? Check out the richly-textured track "Charles"
on this comp. It may not be quite as intricate as stuff by Kruder &
Dorfmeister, but it's close.
