Record labels and Radio...

Hey-

I know there's a good share of both DJ's and record company people here
on this list, so I thought that I'd ask for some advice. I've recently
been appointed the position of Jazz Director at WOBC here in Ohio, and
after proding the station managaer a bit, I've managed to convince her to
allow me to send the Jazz department into a concentration of acid-jazz,
in an effort to make our station a bit more current and hip.

Unfortunately, due to the size of our station, we are unable to order
discs, and subsist cheifly on promotional material that gets sent to us.
Acid-jazz is the largest growing genre on campus here (the acid-jazz
night at the local club has become the most popular, the largest local
band is an acid-jazz band, etc...), so you can see that there is an
audience and a demand for acid-jazz and funk. Do any of you know of
record companies that would be interested in sending me promotional
material to be played and touted on the air? We are able to mail or fax
playlists if necessary, and I personally make a point to push new plays.
Also, if there are any bands on this list that would like to send us
recordings, I'm constantly trying to develop new artists, and the college
market is ideal for that sort of airplay. Feel free to push stuff onto
me, and I'll try to get it on the air.

Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to everyone...

Chock full of funknutty goodness,

Z-Love
