have to disagree aswell - just picking up a load of free promos an'
commenting on them is not making vinyl excursions, especially when many of
us never get to see all those tunes in the shops. if the guy was the sort
of car boot vinyl junkie that made it his mission to discover weirdness
then maybe. i have to say anyone could do it, and there are alot of people
with a better ear and better selections who are better DJs - but probably
just don't live round hoxton square.

as a sort of follow on - anyone else out there pissed off that the jazz
scene has died (just check the charts in SNC and compare the ratio of old
old stuff with new d'n'b for example).it seems to me that alot of the top
ex-jazz DJs are just fed up with searching for those elusive/expensive
rarities and now just take the (free) promos and cash in. in the past i
would freak out to almost any set Gilles Peterson or Patrick Forge played.
me and a friend played with patrick some time back and it was great, last
time we heard him it was just d,n,b white labels and amateur instrumental
hip hop mixing.

thank heaven for Russ Dewbury, he doesn't seem to have succumbed

also does anyone (in the UK) remember the birth of acid house in the late
eighties, and how easily many of those you thought were down with the rare
groove phenomenon jumped off one bandwagon onto the next - just like jungle
maybe.

to prove i do buy new stuff (and am not completely bitter ;-) what do you
all think of the new air 10 inch solidissimo?
