Hi All,

I'm sitting here bored (well the alternative is work/study/graft) so I=20
thought I'd bore the rest of you with some irrelevant (to 99.999 % of =
you) chit
chat.

GOLDIE: Earlier this year the be-Hilfigered one visited our rain soaked =
shores as part
of the MetalHeadz uber tour.

The timing was bad: It was the Saturday of a long weekend
that also saw Orbital visit the Emerald Isle and a wide spectrum of =
other long
weekend related partying, clubbing, gigging. The Metalic craniumed types =
were straight=20
over from some UK festival/ rave/ hedonism jamboree, and thus a little =
'out of sorts'.=20
Even though it was only =A310 (pretty cheap here) there were only about =
half of the=20
expected 4,000 people there, and most of them jaded hacks on freebies.

The venue was bad: Its called the point. What's the point? (apart from =
making=20
huge amounts of money for some very cynical (a few E/crush related =
deaths in
recent times), but well connected Dublin hoods). Its a huge, badly =
converted wharehouse
that's supposedly multi-purpose, but really suits none.=20
=09
The gig was bad: The girls and boys pranocked around the stage like =
half hearted
rockers. They tried to convince us they were doing something 'live' (one =
of them even=20
had a guitar), we weren't fooled. Goldie tried a bit of 'Everybody in =
the house' stuff, but
failed to energize the lack lustre night. Even the lighting was bad (one =
of the few advantages
of a mega-venue).=20

THE RETURN:
So 10 days ago he came again. It was with some trepidation that I handed =
over my =A314=20
cover charge after being rudely searched (don't you just hate that). =
This time it was in
the Temple Bar Music Centre, a sort of school gym-come-nuclear bunker =
whose acoustics
are at serious odds with its name.=20

It Rocked.

The whole night was superbly MCed by the free flowing MC Det (Debt, or =
other..?). He=20
seamlessly welded Rob Playford's kicking Moving Shadow based set, along =
with a fab
EZ Roller's 'live' set that really got us all going.=20
Goldie sauntered on stage, to huge applause (such things still excite us =
over here). Then
he came on all rock star, shaking hands, checking folk, throwing out =
goodies, and generally
giving it all in his ridiculous yachting jacket (this is trend which =
must end). His set was fine,
with a wide range of jungle from Metalheadz and beyond. We all had a =
ball. Its been a long
time since I've seen such unanimous agreement on a quality night out =
(perhaps Coldcut
earlier this year).
Cheers Goldie, EZ Rollers, MC Det (?) and every body else. Oh yeah, and =
thanks for the
Moving Shadow freebies (label samplers and more, for all the jungle =
junkies).

UP COMING STUFF:

Propellerheads (Wall of Sound gang also). Surely this will be mighty?
Sneaker Pimps and Neneh Cherry . Will this be any good?
Jon Carter, oh loads of other stuff.....

See ya.

ON AIR: Agent Provocateur- You're no good : Oh yes you are.
Music of Favour: Central Heating on Grand Central....
