If you want that live hip-hop jazz vibe, the M-Base collective is hip,
but has been never mentioned on this list as long as I can remember.
Releases from members of the crew include:

Steve Coleman's shit - an alto player with a predelection for the swing
that hip-hops- although he has some straight-ahead albums that
swing like hell!
Steve Coleman and The Metrics (A Tale of Two Cities - The EP) - steve's
band (featuring some big name cats) backing up various rappers - this
disc is definitely dope and unappreciated.
Greg Osby - Anothe alto player that digs deep into the hip-hop jazz funk.
Spoken-word/rap with a DJ, live band/sample format. Utterly fresh. His
new album is all straight ahead, supposedly, but the only one I own is
Black Book, which is straight up dope.

Other possibilities:

The Brooklyn Funk Essentials?

Check that shit out. You'll enjoy it, I hope.

peace -
