I agree,
I am not a Bob expert, but there must be a shitload of samples out
there, the all time classic being "take me to the Mardi Gras" which was
one of GM Flash's original beats. A more subtle example is Mantronik's
"king of the beats" -he lifts a bridge from "Sign of the times" to
perfection- more inventive then just looping a break. It is the Rhodes &
chords Bob uses that excite me, but too often they are smothered in
melodic nonsense. That's proper sample hunting to me, buy an album or
three for four bars of genius. Bit like Grover Washington jr...
