> I love seeing reviews on this list BTW.

I second that. Since I take so much from this list, here's a tiny
return. I haven't notice ingrid schoeder's Bee Charmer mentioned,
except someone asking where to order it from. A friend brought it to me
after returning from a London trip. I thought it was a good blend of
genre's, on the tr*p h*p tip. here's review I wrote for my site.=20

Listening to this album it occurred to me that Ingrid Schoeder
might not be a very
happy lady. The exact opposite end of the feeling spectrum I=92m on
after listening to the entire thing. The tone is mysterious and
smokey and the majority of the vocals are hushed and solemn.
Ms. Schoeder lets the words and production carry the songs instead
of belting the lyrics at us. The words never become
melodramatic despite the fact that many of the songs are about
relationships.The not-exactly-run-of-the-mill love song
lyrics in "Presence" ("I=92d rather be lonely, I can=92t even breath=
e
my own air... If fate brought us together, I can=92t wait til the
day it takes you away again.") confirm
her whispered assurance in the dark warning on "Average Bear", (the
lightest, bounciest track on the album;) "hey you, don=92t mess
with my groove....I=92m smarter than the average bear".=20

The heavy bass and stellar production through out the album is
perfectly off-set by=20
the earthy, acoustic sounds, demonstrated in "Not a Day Goes By"
and "Paint You Blue". Congas, smooth organs and bass guitar carry
the songs but the light scratches and samples ("mad fanatic"!)
certainly enhance the overall sound. "Waterbaby" almost touches on
Drum n Bass, with it=92s long soft vocal intro before kicking in the
drums. And isn=92t that odd, considering that the production, mixing =20
and engineering credits on the track belong to Goldie and Rob Playford?=20

And then there=92s the without a doubt hip-hop track "Thing in the
Middle" but instead of rapping Wu=92s lecturing on murder, there=92=
s
the wonderfully subdued Ingrid singing about the addiction of
love=92s similarities to the addiction of heroin.=20

This album came into my hands from left-field but I=92ll be sure to
hang on to it for a while. Down-tempo mellowness on the serious
tip, I know quality when I hear it.

As you can tell I really liked this album. Its on Warner Rcords BTW.=20
Does anyone know if this is the same as Warner Brothers here in the
states? I sent em a e-mail but haven't hear from them yet.

I also picked up a few used CDs from Micheal's for sale list: the cup
of tea comp., 9 Lazy 9's "The Herb", Up, Bustle and Outs "One Color
Just Reflects Another" and the surprise treat of the group Compost
Records "Lytic Cocktail". As most of you all ready know, all are
excellent... though the Cup of Tea Comp was slightly more ??commerial??
sounding than I had expected after recently hearing an soupurb 10"
sampler on Cup of Tea that including Purple Pengiun (Mountain?) song
and other remixes on the D n B jazz tip.

keep groovin....
