TO THOSE INTERESTED IN AJ LIST COMPILATION PROJECT:

Please print or save this message, think about the issues a while, and
write some stuff back to me at dtprod@connectnet.com

I can't really stop thinking about this AJ List compilation thing. I've
been compiling some of the messages written about this, and putting
together a file so that we can have a central place for ideas and
figures.

I'm ready to do this and I think there are a few things we should all
talk about...

1. The chain messages get messy, and there might be some people on the AJ
list who don't really care about the project, so we should have a sub
mailing list and those who express interest off the main list can be
added. It's fine with me if you want to direct all messages here and
I'll post them back out or whatever.

2. The cash is the first issue of the day...who's got it? Elson
(elson@westworld.com) mentioned labels as part of "who we have", so if
you are one of them, please step up! I just got done putting together
another CD and I can say that if we do it on CD, there are 10 tracks,
professionally mixed and mastered, and all the other stuff, we could
realistically get it done for around $15,000 plus or minus a bunch
depending on what we start out with (i.e. quality recordings, advance
payments, time investments, raw materials, etc.) I don't know if we can
just pass the bowl around!! Perhaps the labels present on this list
(Moonshine, Sony, Ubiquity, Cargo, and others?) will step up to the
plate.

3. The distribution and marketing is always just as important as the
up-front cash for making the product. I think we could safely cover the
whole internet between us, but that doesn't say much for the population
of the world! From the looks of posts I've seen, we may come up short
here, depending again on the presence of label support.

4. Can a representative from each of the groups involved get together in
one central place to do the final steps? I know this could mean serious
airfare for a few people!

5. Politics: we probably will need to have some kind of election to
delegate responsibility of tasks.

6. Well, the 5 items above are a plenty good start, seeing that this is
probably the longest non-chain post anyone has ever put on this list!!!

Let me know what you think!

Peace,
Derek
