OBaj:
I don't think it has been mentioned enough, that "Future sound of
jazz, vol 3" is out (on Compost records). It was simply destined for
my "best compilation of 1996" vote! No competition there.

This is slightly jazzier and IMO way better than the Headz2 comp
- which made the "overrated project of 1996" vote for me...
Especially disc2 is worth mentioning. I just love that "Harp of gold"
track by Pete Nice trio. I think the sample in that song is from
Prefab Sprout's "Jordan, the comeback" or? That too is a great album,
even if it isn't AJ in no sense...
Disc1 is more laid back and abstract, but still groovy and quite jazzy.

Track listing (on a 2xCD), * = previously unreleased:

Disc 1.
1. Max 404 - Quiddy (Second visit)
2. RAC - Scuba
* 3. Move D - Hurt me
* 4. Metamatics - Skunk me
* 5. Funkstorung - MUsh
6. Cool Blu - Aqua Libra (down beat mix)
7. Garsaaidi - Frank Zaffa (Lascelles mix)
8. Daniel Ibbotson - Split into fractions
9. Gescom - Keynel 1
* 10. Mike Paradinas - Sponk
* 11. Taran - B 52

Disc 2.
* 1. Fauna flash - Carsual swing
2. London electricity - Sister talking
3. DJ Dara - Smoke
4. Pete Nice trio - Harp of gold
* 5. Beanfield - Code of confidence
* 6. Turntable terranova - Fisko ('96 remix)
7. Chicks with disks - Wurst
* 8. Four ears - My way (Fusion mix)
9. Jimpster - Playtime

Ok, while I'm at it, for those of you that got and liked the "Friends
from Rio" album, should definitely check out the remix version. It features
exactly the same tracks, all remixed by AJ heros like: DJ
Takemura, A forest mighty black, Pressure drop and APE.
It's well worth the money! The album is called "Misturada one (Mixing)
Selections from friends from Rio". Distribution (in Europe anyway) is
by Ninety-Nine.
