On July 14, Radio X DJs will bring socially-conscious tunes
from the Mission to the world, as the music comes from
the San Francisco stage to x-radio's website for an
evening. The event at Cafe du Nord will provide a chance
for Radio X listeners and pirate DJs to meet, and to further
the station's effort to raise money for better equipment.

Bammie award-winning local funk band, Los Angelitos will
rock the house - and the Internet - in their typical style, and
will be joined by special guests. Los Angelitos are currently
recording their debut LP at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley,
expected out in early Fall. In coming weeks, Radio X will
feature previews from their upcoming album.

"The event allows us to take a bottom-up approach to an
international event, bringing the sounds of our community
beyond the Mission for an evening of grooves," says DJ
Travisty of Mindscape.

"Pirate radio is the real deal. It's what people want to hear
- no commercials," says Xaime from Los Angelitos. And he
agrees with Radio X DJs that the band and the station
have common goals. "Our music has an anti-oppression
message, a political message, incorporated in a medium
that's danceable and fun. Stations like Radio X are also on
the cutting edge, doing revolutionary stuff without any
money."

Radio X is an unlicensed, micro-powered,
collectively-operated radio station that seeks to bring a
voice to Mission area residents. The bilingual station
broadcasts (at least) from 6PM to 10PM every day, and
features a diverse platter of music and public affairs
programming to discuss issues that affect the lives of its
listeners. Radio X welcomes comments and participation
from members of the community.

The benefit concert begins at 9PM on Monday, July 14 at
Cafe du Nord, 2170 Market St. The cost is $5 (or more if
you can), or the station will accept donations of CD players.

Note: There is no legal connection between Radio X, the
pirate radio station, and x-radio, the music web site.
