Doesn't it have to do with alcohol? You know a chaser is something you drink
after a particularly strong or nasty tasting alcohol so when we order something
we may say, "straight, no chaser", meaning "I am strong enough to take the
nasty ass taste". I assume that it's been picked up by a-j people cuz it
sounds kind of hip, like "shaken not stirred" (sounds like a good magazine).

I assume this is what it means but I'll ask my friends later.

Now this reveals how ignorant I truly am, but well, this has been
bugging me for a long time now: actually what does the term 'straight
no chaser' mean and how is it associated with (acid) jazz. All I know
is that there's a song called SNC from Thelonius Monk, I mean, about
the history. So please tell me.
