Excursions.

Last week I went shopping and bought two records that are somewhat close
to the list subject. Credit To The Nation's daddy always wanted me to grow
a pair of wings on One Little Indian was in the discount bin. It was very
cheap and didn't look too bad so I just had to buy it. It's too cheesy and
popsy for me, but otherwise almost alright. I could have a second listen
some day.
Though that was not why I'm writing this mail. The other CD I bought was
Mo'Wax's Excursions-compilation, which is finally out and has been for
some time I think. It's a double CD, of which the second is mixed by Money
Mark. It's not the best mix I've heard but ok anyway. Just that there are
some tracks in the mix that are in to first CD too, and I don't find it
very pleasing to buy two same versions of the same song on the very some
(double) record.
But besides for those minor setbacks Excursions is just great. After one
listening I was put down for I expected for a disc full of very organic
hip hop and there was a lot of techno and jungle included and most of it
sounded very electronic. Now that I've listened to it a week in a row I
must admit that you don't always get the right picture the first time. I
mean, after this one I'm finally beginning to like even drum 'n bass. Not
that I hated it before, but there are some truly inspiring tracks on the
record that really 'opened up my ears'. Absolutely worth checking out.

My favourites are of course the Prunes tracks and Midnight Funk
Association's Twice The Life, which is somewhat my defition of groove.
