I don't think she's necessarily in the same style, but Adriana Evans
will be coming out with a really nice album which has strong Hip Hop
influence and has that jazzy-bluesy feel (the label is PMP). She has a
couple of singles out: "Reality" on which the UK release has a nice
Attica Blues Rmx and "Seeing Is Believing"
I believe (only speculation) PMP maybe holding off on really going all
out with her promotions until Erykah Badu slows down a bit. Adriana
Evans was the vocalist behind Dred Scott, the hip hop artist who had
some nicely done hip hop tracks with some live instrumentation (sax)
thrown in (the instrumentals attracted me to Scott). He did not do well
(sales wise) and has gone to producing and I believe he's produced the
whole Adriana album (I have an advance and no liner notes to confirm).
On the more trippy side of things, pick up anything Terra Deva has her
name on!
