about the flutes - i think bobbi humphrey's _black and blues" LP is an all
time classic in that regard. its been sampled by dig planets, common
sense, brand nubians and loads more. its very don mizellish (read: funky
fresh on the jazz tip). very beat orientated as well so you should have
an easy time putting it in the mix.

pete rock and cl smooth - probably my favorite album of all time (if i
count the number of time i listen to it) is their first full length "mecca
and the soul brother". its getting easier to find as a UK import - get up
with your brit connects and i'm sure they could find it for about 10
bucks over there. theie first EP is great but impossible to find on
wax... the newer LP "main ingrediant" is decent, but the lyrics got a bit
too soft for my liking. the producer pete rock is definatly a jazz-hop
innovator whos known for think funk bassilines and vibey/grimy horn and
guitar loops. the single below was their most known cut and a true
classic with one of the most gorgeous beats around... the instrumental
would be a gem for anyone on the list. ok, i'll back up off their nuts
now.
