Ok - I'll jump in after a year away from this list so forgive me if this
has been mentioned before.

The best place to start is Andy McFadden's recordable CD FAQ. It is
posted
regularly to the comp.publish.cdrom.software newsgroup. This newsgroup
is
also a good place to look if you want to hear about the down side of all
the hardware and software. It seems to be a fact of life that no-one
talks
about their successes, only their problems, so you'll get a jaundiced
view
if you believe all you read in the newsgroup. Check out
http://www.fadden.com
for an html version of the FAQ.

The Sonic Foundry software has a good reputation and the package looks
good
value if you want a copy of ACID. The hardware is someone elses drive
with
a Microboards badge on it. Microboards usually use TEAC drives in their
duplicating
towers.

Cheers.

James.
