About the best use of traditional Japanese instruments--e.g., shakuhachi
and taiko--in a modern music format is stuff produced over the years by
the group, Hiroshima, out of SoCal. But, again, this really isn't dance
music. It's jazz fusion. I used to like them a lot but they're a little
too "new agey" for my acid jazz-altered tastes.
