Hello David,
"Jap" is a derogatory term that was used during WWII. For Japanese
Americans, I think it it is a term that is most associated with the
government internment camps and how they were looked down on by other
Americans.

As far as the term "Brit" goes, I'm not sure if there's a historical
background or if it's considered offensive; anyone?
