Hello all. I have some reviews and a question. I am looking to invest in
a new mixer. Possibly up to $500. Is there anything out there that
anyone feels strongly about? My prerequisites seem to be a fader for the
headphones, transform buttons would be nice... I heard there were mixers
that could drop the bass/mid/treble out completely. I was leaning
towards Vestax. Pleeeese help!

Anyway, I am way behind on reading my mail from this list so forgive me
if i repeat anything. Figured i'd toss out reviews of the kick ass shit
i've been picking up. Don't sleep on any of this stuff!

MOZESLI - contains Soul Preacher and has a silver mirror sleeve. This
is French stuff on Source. "Soul Preacher" starts off sweet and mellow.
Somewhat minimal with violins slipping in and out with a fat beat then
builds to some soulful disco sounding vibe. Very cool. Flip side has the
same kinda vibe...

THE MIGHTY BOP- Autres Voix, Autres Blues. On Yellow Productions.
Double record and every track is cool. Menelik's track real smooth. This
is one of those records i take every place i go!

UTSUMI- Finding a New World EP. I assume it's from Japan. The label is
Disorient. Both trip-hop and drum and bass mixes of acid jazzy tracks
with a strong latin flavor to it all. The jungle track is great! I never
heard a latin jungle track. Bouncing latin piano sounds, flutes and
beats.

REFLECTION- The Morerronus World. Label is Clear. Track one made me buy
this. Slow laid back atmospheric jazz with a rolling ride cybal beat
that is just too dope, a smooth bass guitar line and xylophones that
come in at the end. This a full length and the other tracks are in that
same vein but most seem to be more on the electronic side.

JAMES HARDWAY- Welcome to the Neon Lounge. Double LP on Substance. Hands
down the best jazzy jungle i have ever heard. Get this.

RUNAWAYS- Classic Tales. Amazing, amazing shit. A lot of tricky dj stuff
that might get a little much depending on what your take on that stuff
is (i'm diggin it) but definitely coming off fresh (new, that is). And
the key factor to this record is that there is a nice balance between
uptempo scratadatdachin and smooth unchopped lovelyness. Bottom line
though, plenty of slaaamin beats. A must have!!!!

GIANT STEPS VOL. 1 i found this 93' release on wax for $6. Jhelisa's
track "Sally's Knockin" is lovely. Other highlights, Galliano-Prince of
Peace, Dana Bryant-Revelution will not be Televised.

RUN DMC-BOX SET!!!!! This just came out at a pricy $45. Both original
tracks and instrumental versions of : It's like that, Sucker Mc's, Hard
Times, Jam Master Jay, Rock Box, 30 Days, King of Rock, Your talk too
much, Darryl and Joe, Here we go, My Adidas, Peter Piper, Walk this Way,
Run's House, and Beats to the Rhyme... Don't think i have to say much
more.

Anything on the label "From the Basement"!
