Oi galera!

I finally finished my exams and bought some stuff I was planning to buy =
but wasn't able to find the time for it.=20

First the Gary Bartz album - Harlem Bush music. excellent soulfull funky =
and deep stuff. this re-release came out a while ago already and I had =
already heard "Celestial Blues" many times. it's the funkiest song of =
the album where Gary sings along with the horn, beautiful.

A 12"on the Ronin label from the Deck Wrecka. Nice triphop with use of =
old gangster flicks speech. I can't remember where the label is coming =
from any relations to anybody famous/known?=20

2x 12", 4hero. Mark and Dego doin it again. with "Earth Pioneers" =
already seen in the Aj poll lists. Can't wait for the full album. I love =
the tune with Ursula Rucker although I always have to do a big effort to =
understand/follow her lyrics. Planetaria with Chris Bowden is my =
favourite.

The compilation of the year goes out to universal sound/soul jazz - =
Strata-2-East (USlp6)the follow-up to Soul Jazz love Strata East, my =
favourite compilation ever. Great and much sought after tracks from the =
1972-75 era. Jazzy as unusual...
Is there anybody out there who is able to make a list off all the soul =
jazz/universal sound releases. I almost buy anything of these labels and =
I want to know what's missing.

another 12". D*Note - Lost and found - the spiritual life Rhumba 14:27 =
minutes! of percussion and jazzy house.

last but not least; Ben Harper's "Will to Live". although not very AJ. =
He is turning more and more to the rockish side. I like his sincere =
lyrics and music. Not too much use of the slide guitar this time.=20

and I'm out,

Jeroen
