Dear List: Just returned
from the Local Goodwill/second hand store. I havent been for a while so
it was amazing how they fixed the joint up . When i went to the
checkout they told me tht Lp were a whole 1.50(!) and 45 a buck. By
this time I had assembled quite haul and had to put back a lot f stuf
inluding "risky: stuff that makes carreers for the likes of Premier.
This is what I kept: 1) The meters-cissy strut-damn I
have two of these and they are both on the Rhino comp. Good songs(both
sides) but a waste of my buck. I forgot i had this. 2)Aaron
Neville(minit label)"wrong number" b/w "how could i help but love you" .
Wrong Number is a lot like "tell it Like It is". I remember Charlie
Gillet writng that "TILIS" is no better or worse than his other stuff
fir Minit( he was expressng surprise at the success of the song) and he
is right . The BIG HIT is a little better bt this shoulda hit too. The
B side has a "drifters" beat(baion) and has some sample potential. I
bet Gilles peterson could play this t a show and it would fit. Also
Latin Dj could play it especially as Neville Vocal are sorta latin now
that you think of it. 3) Baby Cortes-(t-neck) I turned you
on -i think thi was used by someone. B-side " i know who you been okin
it to"- great instrumntal. By the way he seems tobe some Isley produced
answer to the Meters.+++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++SURPISE
OF THE LOT+++++++ The B-sid of top 40 pop hit"dont PUll your love
down" by Hamilton. Joe frank and Reynolds has a B-side "Funk in
Wagnall'. Funky! bought it for the B-title without knowing the" A
"was that dreadful AM staple. Its Pete Rock Time! I know if i can get
this out i will get major props for finding this." Dont Pull your love
down on me baby if you o youll make me crazy" ha ha. boy ya nevr can
tell!
