_Electric Byrd_ is a beautiful psychedelic groove record w/Brazillian
touches. On _Ethiopian Knights_ he gets more into a heavy electric funk
thing. _Fancy Free_ is pre-electrification, but still beautiful deep
groove jazz. _Black Byrd_ was considered a mega-selling crossover jazz hit
back then, & w/the funky action it carries it's easy to see why. _Street
Lady_ is pretty kickin' in a blaxploitation vein ("Witch Hunt"!), & _Places
& Spaces_ features the golden Mizell production touch which (hopefully) you
know & love from Johnny "Hammond" {Smith}'s _Gears_ & _Forever Taurus_, & a
buncha other places besides. And the first two Blackbyrds' records (at
least) are proto-acidjazz gold.

A complete genius in his prime, and one of the true fathers of acid jazz.
