GIANT STEP AND LEVI'S BRING YOU
#6/12 of the MILES A HEAD SERIES
Direct from the UK, FOR their LIVE -
NEW YORK DEBUT
** PROPELLERHEADS **
+ Special guests (off the album possibly ?)
Wednesday, March 25th, Œ98 @ IRVING PLAZA

The stirring buzz has been growing with intense speed
back into the big beat movement !
After setting the UK ablaze with the release
of their first single ³DIVE², PROPELLERHEADS have been flying
headstrong into the spotlight with a full on LIVE frenzy of big bangin' beats,
hip hop beatbox skillz, a funking groove and a mad on stage rush to play all their instruments, and dj as well - BANG ON Props !
They now are ready to come Stateside with their debut full length
²DECKSDRUMSANDROCKANDROLL² (DreamWorks in the USA / WALL OF SOUND in the UK))
and to TAKE NEW YORK, cause from all reports they just took California !

The PROPELLERHEADS explode on stage more like children
in the schoolyard than experienced musicians. Founding
propellerhead Alex Gifford paints the show as extreme,
³.. itıs just the two of us, with four decks, drums, Hammond
and bass - and lots of running around from one thing to other
desperately trying to keep it all together.² Running off the
energy of the crowd, youıll never know what will come next !

If their energy isnıt enough to hold you their music sure
enough is. The Brit duo of, ex-keyboardist of Van Morrison and
old school hip hop head Alex Gifford and Will White, a DJ and
drummer skilled from his jazz drumming father, meld a world of
sounds. Taking influences from the likes of ³Rock It² the Herbie
Hancock ground breaker to Beastie Boys ³Shake Your Rump² to
Steely Dan, Motorhead, jazz and easy listening, theyıve created
a funk rock hip hop soundscape. And if itıs all about the
³soundscape² these days theyıve got it down as proven in the
UK top 40 hit ³Spybreak!" and the thrilling James Bond track
³On Her Majestyıs Secret Service.²

The boys have given props to the legends as well, with a
beautifully energetic piece ³History Repeating² featuring the timeless
Shirley Bassey. Also played out are tracks with De La Soul and The Jungle
Brothers (and both being from NY who knows what may happen at
the live show).

Friday March 27, '98 - 9pm
The US Debut of A3 (aka ALABAMA 3)
+ DJ Carbo of Grand Royal
SHINE 285 W Bway at Canal

Giant Step welcomes A3 for their first New York appearance
Friday, March 27th at Shine.

Their evangelistic debut album, "Exile on Coldharbour Lane" (Geffen Records)
featuring the hilarious and ground breaking songs "Ain't Goin' To Goa",
"U Don't Dans To Tekno Anymore" and "Speed Of The Sound Of Loneliness", preaches
a sermon of R&B, bluesy country, gospel and techno. If that doesn't catch you,
throw in loads of acid house rhythms and Kraftwerk-like beats to round it off.

What do you get when you take a percussionist named Congaman Love, a guitarist
named Fuzzbox and a keyboardist called the Organ of Love, and add a drummer
known as Little Boy Dope, harmonica swills from a guy named the Mountain of Love
accompanied by operatic vocals from I.V. Lenin, and then have the whole lot headed
by two guys named Larry Love and the Reverend D. Wayne Love?

Although it's not a sauce for your steaks, it may very well be the spiciest mix
of backwoods flavors to hit New York . The answer is quite simply A3.

Tired of what the UK rave scene was offering, the two DJs
now known as Larry Love and Reverend D. Wayne Love came together
with a unified vision. "We hated the bleepy ambient shite, so we
came down to Hank Williams instead" - Larry Love . Don't be
fooled this isn't just techno with a twist. You'll see no knob
twiddling, it's all live! "Our agenda is to make techno
exciting..." -Larry Love.

Friday, March 27 at 9pm.
