It's funny that u should mention the propellerheads; I picked up their
record last Tuesday and have been listening 2 it ever since. 2 be honest,
the first couple of times that I listened 2 it, I thought, "this ain't bad,
but it ain't anything 2 write home about either". I can't say that I'm
really blown away with the record, but I've been listening 2 it about 3-4
times a day since I got it, and 4 the life of me, I can't really pinpoint
what's keeping me listening. I mean, it's good, but it certainly ain't
great (although given how often I've been listening 2 it, I may wind up
eating my words). It's certainly worth listening 2, though, if not so that
u can develop your own opinion about it.

One thing I really like about it is the use of very funky, James Bondish
sounds and crazy Shaft-like guitar wails, but there's also alot of go
nowhere electronic sounds and beats which aren't exactly part of this disc's
defining points. That is, unless you're of the opinion that anything
electronic is necessarily good.

Anyway, I'm curious 2 see what the rest of U acid-jazzers think of the
Propellerheads. I can see this record becoming very popular with the
trendoids and those concerned with image, but of course, popularity don't
mean shit; it's certainly not what makes a record or an artist good.
Personally, I don't think that anything groundbreaking is happening here,
but it's still got enough groove to make it worth listening 2. I wouldn't
spend my last 20 bucks on it, especially not if you still haven't picked up
King Britt's latest.

Keep Bumpin'
