First, I realize this is an Acid Jazz list. But I have to say in my 6
years djing I haven't heard so many great deep funky house tracks in one
year. First, there's is Stardust "music sounds better with you" kinda
old, but still rocks a floor esp. Bob Sinclar mix, Bob Sinclar's
Paradise is amazing!!!! Then the Paper label is putting great stuff like
Shaboom, New Funk Theory, and Kenny Hawkes (owner). Nuphonic, Glasgow
Underground, Pagan, Guidance, and Yoshi Toshi (esp. the deep house
anthem "House Music" by our once local Eddie Amador).
I just heard a phat white label that samples Patrice Rushen's
"haven't You heard", but it is a very limited pressing. Also check for
Kevin Yost on his i records label. Blaze's "My Beat" is jazzy house
and it swings. I just heard a new Ashley Beadle 12" on Slip & Slide
records that grooves. Check out the Cheek Venus's Sunshine People
(Mousse T) on Versatile.
All very funky deep house for' 98.
