Your thinking of Stanton Moore. His CD is excellent - Probably be my #1
jazz pick of the year.
Stan Kenton is dead. He was an big band leader and piano player, most
popular in the 50s. I think most of his material as a band leader is a
little busy, but his 70s material on GNP loosens up a bit. In fact, 7.5 On
The Richter Scale gets downright funky at times - in a Maynard Ferguson
sort of way.
