Hey list, what's shakin'. Been a long time since I last hit y'all, I know (been working nonstop). I picked up some great stuff this weekend which may or may not have already discussed here, but here goes anyway.

-Clifford Gilberto: "I Was Young And I Needed The Money"- Just fucking awesome!!!!!!! Fantastic Drum N Bass, very strong songwriting here with a very interesting Bossa Nova feel throughout. In my opinion, this is as good as it gets

-Dj Krush with Toshinori Kondo: "Ki-Oku"- Very strong record. What hooked me on this record is Toshinori Kondo's fantastic trumpet playing; very reminiscent of Miles Davis during his electric days and on "Doo Bop". To be honest, I've only heard this cd three times between playing the Clifford Gilberto to death, but I really like what I hear.

-Funki Porcini- "The Ultimately Empty Million Pounds"- I was really looking forward to this disc and heard alot of good things, but I'm pretty disappointed with it up to date. I'll give it a few more listens, but I'm not too sure about this one being a keeper up to date.

-Galactic- "Crazyhorse Mongoose": This one's just amazing, perfect New Orleans funk. I bought this one right after seeing them perform live, and I couldn't be happier. Out of the more than 200 shows I've seen to date, Galactic was one of the best; top 10 even. Highly recommended. Do yourselves a favor folks; if Galactic ever play your town, do whatever it takes to go see them perform. The drummer, Stanton Moore, is by far the most creative and versatile funk drummer I've ever seen, which brings me to my final purchase:

-Stanton Moore- "All Kooked Out": fantastic jazz-funk record along the lines of Charlie Hunter's first three records. Actually, Charlie Hunter plays guitar on all the tracks, so any fans of his music will not being disappointed with this one. Strong songwriting, with VERY strong and versatile drummer. Believe me, Stanton Moore really is that much of a big deal!!!!

All for now,

Stimp
