wussup, lava. a couple years ago i bought this import funk collection (from
Sweden or somewhere in Europe, i don't recall exactly where) called "The Get
It: Raw Funk '67-'69" - or something to that effect...i don't have it
sitting here in front of me. anywho, most of the tracks on there aren't
that great (one is just absolutely atrocious, complete with out-of-tune
guitar and busted-up hammond), but one of them is one of the funkiest tunes
i have ever heard! it's called "handle it" and it's by the soul suspects.
i would love to know if anybody has any lps or even other 12"s of theirs
because this song is funky, big time. it's a somewhat foolish thing to buy
an entire album for one song, but damn, what a song! ^_^

peas & love,

rev. eric

ps - then there's the entire superfly soundtrack (thank you & r.i.p.,
curtis), the early stuff the J.B.'s did w/ the Godfather (including _Black
Caesar_ - w/ "down and out in new york city" and "blind man can see it"
blaxploitation never sounded so good!), and on the newer tip, there's a tune
by the pharaohs on _even more original raw soul_ called "the pharaohs love
y'all" that is outta sight. ^_^ oh, and let's not forget the herbaliser's
most recent lp. i can't stop listening to the instrumentals, esp.
"shattered soul"! okay, that's it.
