Despite how academic his spinning and performances are, DJ Spooky is great
at both sides, although he really blurs the distinction. At his "free DJ
gig" before his most recent concert here, he played bass and the Nmbara
between records, during records. Of course i'm a sucker for truly eclectic
sets like his, and for DJs who "turntablize" records and mix them together
at the same time. And his live show kicked, much thanks to his tabla
player and drummer.

I recently saw a show by Pan Sonic, in which all they did was knob-tweak
(as far as i could see, but they had a projection screen on which the sound
waves were projected. (If anyone wants a better explanation, write me
personally). And that concert was the closest I've had to a transcendent
experience at a concert.
