Which new album? He's released 3 this year. "Scope" on Thrill Jockey,
which has its moments is definitely my least fave. "Funfair" on Bubble
Core (credited to Child's View) is a much better version (more elegant,
better arrangements) of similar ideas (without computer-fart "Taw").
"Sabure'" on "Funfair" has some sort of a great "Cotton Wool" or "Brown
Paper Bag" feel going on with an acoustic bass, jungle noises, but with the
addition of his new clicky million-samples-a-second self-organizing noise.

He's also released "For Issey Miyake Men by Naoki Takizawa" which is
beatless, orchestral, trumpet, and voices, with his glockenspiel-y stuff
throughout, kindof a bridge between Takemura II and Takemura III.

Personally, I break down Takemura's career into three parts (so far):
Takemura I. Instrumental hip-hop Takemura. Stuff that this list would love,
Child's View, For Tomorrow, Audio Sports, Spiritual Vibes. Stuff like
Silent Poets.

Takemura II. Glockenspiel-y Takemura. Remixes for United Future
Organization and Roni Size, plus some tracks on Scope and For Issey Miyake...

Takemura III. Million-Samples/clicky/noise Takemura. Funfair, most of
Scope, Meteor, remixes for Coldcut, Steve Riech.

I've found continuity between Takemura II and Takemura III, with some
glockenspiel-y and clicky tracks, as well as "Issey Miyake" which bridges
by taking out the beats.

I have found no continuity between Takemura I and any of the mroe recent
Takemura. I'm saving money to buy "Child and Magic," I hope that will
clear things up.
BTW, i'm more a III fan than a II fan, and a II fan more than a I fan,
although, it's all damned good music to me.

Anyways, don't sell the newer Takemura short based on "Scope."
Although, do sell short based on "Funfair."

I think i've heard he wasn't that enthused about his old hip-hop music.
To me, i got a feeling from whatever dream/comment that was that his
hip-hop days were more paying the bills than doing what he wanted. Maybe
i'm way off base.
