you suck, you will be exposed, and never paid.
as for vinyl vs. cd mixing...can we really call anybody who "spins" cds a
real dj? c'mon, it's too simple, and you really can't do a whole lot with it

I really disagree with this. Point of fact there are deejays that can
beatmatch CDs as well as vinyl deejays, but beyond that is beatmixing the
one and only acid test to being a deejay? What about the college and
speciality radio jocks that program awesome music but don't (and some can't)
beatmix--are they no longer considered deejays? That's nonsense. A deejay
who can read a crowd, rock the party, pick the tunes AND mix is a better
deejay than one that can't mix, but they're both deejays.

You bring me your technically perfect bedroom vinyl deejay who can't program
records to save his life (but boy can he mix them!) and I'll bring a deejay
who's been spinning for 10+ years and he'll play only CDs (but he's got the
dope shit!) and we put them both in a club on a Sat nite and my money's
going on the veteran playing CDs every time. Music vs. Mixing, music wins.
Music + Mixing vs Music, Music + Mixing wins. My two cents.

Oh in case anybody is reading too much between the lines, I can beatmix (and
have for 8-9 years) but often at certain bars or restaurants when I spin
I'll just bring Cds and I don't even try to beatmix them. If I'm at a house
club I'll beatmix everything.
