Got the new Bahamadia... don't think the others are out yet, at least not here.

First impression; even though she is, ihmo, the illest rhyme sayer, this solo joint is not as good, production wise, and there4 not as satisfying, as some of her guest spots (Sweetback, Herbalizer, Roni Size, Guru, Rawkus comp., etc....)

Plus, this is more like an EP... there are only 7 or 8 trax on it, most by different producers, and one of them an instrumental. (Kind of like getting a 6 song Charlie Parker disk with him sitting out a tune! Go figure.)

A lot of kinda soulful male vocals in the mix, and the overall vibe reminds me a bit of "My Umi Says" or some of the more melodic tracks from Mos Def, however, they are not quite in the same league, really.

The rhymes are stellar, of course, (and printed in the liner notes, which is nice) and any1 who thinks Eminem is a lyrical genius should really check themselves and measure him by her. Yeah, he comes across 2 short, but so do alot of other sukkas. But as a whole, considering the long wait, its shortness, and the uneveness of the trax, it's a let down for me, to be sure.

What the world needs now is a full-length LP with Bahamadia flowing over DJ Premier tracks (or ?stlove, for that matter)... Since Bahamadia wears clothes and tries to impress from the neck up unlike most of your female mc's these dayz, will it ever happen?

(PS.... that said, I didn't like her Kollage the first few times I heard it, but except for a few trax of whack, I LOVE that record now. 1 other thing. Bahamadia is a true ARTIST, which means she clearly reflects what's going on in her life, and it sounds like she's had a lot of struggles, so don't expect to feel like taking over the world after checking these lyrics...)
