Truce will be Filmed on the night for broadcast to Seven million homes in
the UK territory as well as another 55 million homes around Europe.
MTV¹s The Lick comprises of two separate shows both presented by Trevor
Nelson. The Lick R&B Chart Show features the weekly rundown of the latest
R&B chart and the Late Lick features the latest videos, interviews and news
from the R&B scene. The Lick R&B Chart Show premiers on Wednesdays at 8pm,
repeating on Saturdays at 2pm. The Late Lick premiers on Thursdays at 10pm,
repeating on Sundays at midnight. The shows are made by MTV in the UK &
Ireland and go out to seven million homes in this territory as well as
another 55 million homes around Europe. In May 1998 MTV took The Lick out of
the studio to the Emporium nightclub in London for a series of monthly
parties hosted by Trevor Nelson and featuring guest performances by the
likes of Hinda Hicks, Kele Le Roc, Jay Z and Black Eyed Peas. After only
seven parties the event outgrew the 800 capacity venue and the Lick moved
onto the Equinox in Leicester Square for a 2500 capacity sell out Xmas
Party.
In February 99 the party took to the road with a series of parties around
the country including one at the 4000 capacity Majesty in Leeds. The event
sold out two weeks in advance of the party. In November 99 the Lick hosted a
post MTV Europe Awards party in Dublin, which featured impromptu
performances by Mariah Carey, Puff Daddy, Missy Elliot, Mary J Blige,
Whitney Houston, Bobby Brown, Honeyz, Lynden David Hall and TQ. It is now
cemented in history as the R&B brand of the decade.
