    Hi list

As opposed to Mr Hawkins - I for one definately
am a huge fan of JTQ - though I understand Mr Hawkins
reasons. What a drag to replay a song that many times.

Never the less I believe James Taylor Quartet
was the direct reason for me to change
    focus from jazzfusion / jazzfunk / oh-listen-to-this-
solo type of VERY intelligent music, towards the more
    groovier aspects of danceable/ hip-swinging/ spontaneous/groove jazz.

To me they held the hip torch of style, attitude and
party in the late eighties when the term that this list
uses - AcidJazz - was peeking globally.
Definately an approach that paid hommage to all
the organ grinders; Jimmy this and Jack that :-))

The way JTQ defined a universe of agentmovie intros,
blazing carchases, funky organ and tight drums, with
the obligatory flute on top, really opened mine (and
    I believe many others) eyes.

Bear in mind, that when Acid Jazz was big, people
dressed up and acted accordingly, thus moving focus from
the tounge in cheek I am digging this complicated solo
in this OH so boring jazzfusion, towards the spontanity
that music should provoke in people.

Like Erik wrote, James Taylor Quartet is a live act
that promises to fullfill the three basic ingredients in
    a good night out groove-groove & groove.

Since 1986 JTQ has released 20 albums, of which I believe
    six or seven are compilations.
    They steered clear of commercialization
after releasing ; Do your own thing feat Tyron McKoy which I
view as the closest JTQ ever got to recognization from
the mainsteam crowd that followed the likes of
Jamiroquai and say Brand New heavies.

Admittedly its four years since I had the chance of seeing
them at the Roskide festival, and I realize time can take its
toll on creativity and spontantity, but I for one is looking
forward to seeing them here in Copenhagen in five days time.

    Three personal JTQ favourite albums;

    Wait a minute 1988
    Mission Impossible 1987
    Absolute - JTQ live 1991

    Killertracks:
    Theme From Starsky & Hutch
    Love the life
    Wait a minute.

    informative and really good indepth
    clues to JTQ

To quote Eirk : > Bring a towel and go nuts!

Loads of greetings to the list and remember
    to always KICK JAZZ.
