    Acid-Jazz mailing list members:

I am developing some tools for the organization of mailing lists at a site
www.groupedia.com. It is still in beta stage but most of the functions are
    working.

    - The mailing list admin, Erik Boralv, has agreed to try out Groupedia
since it provides a bunch of tools that all members can take advantage of.

    - Nothing changes with the current way that you receive or send email
    messages.

    - An archive of all messages sent to the group from now on will be
available at www.groupedia.com in the group "acid jazz" and stored in the
"unsorted messages" file. You can use this as a supplement to the site and
    mailing list.

    - This back archive is easily customized by group members. For example, you
can create categories for each artist, label or record and keep all the
messages relevant in these categories. This should make searching easier
    later on.

    - In addition to reviewing the archives, there are additional features on
Groupedia that you may want to use. For example, you can create new
categories like "upcoming events" or "show reviews" and keep appropriate
messages there. You can create these topics on anything you like and keep
put messages, documents and links there.

    - Groupedia allows you to distill the information you have in email
messages into master documents. It is difficult sometimes to find
information later if it is buried in a stream of emails. For example, there
may be dozens of emails about clubs in NYC, but reading through all of them
and finding out about them can take a lot of time. Instead, you as members
can create documents, like "Good Clubs in New York" and pull the necessary
information out of emails create a brand new document and store it where
you like. You don't need to wait for the admin to do all the work for you.

    - To take advantage of this, visit the Groupedia website. You will see the
web group "acid-jazz". You need to join the acid jazz group to access
it. Instructions are available at the site - basically you just click on
    "join".

    - The intent of Groupedia is that all members of the email group can
contribute what ever time or effort they have available to the upkeep and
organization of the web group. The web group is yours to use however you want.

    - Groupedia is in the trial stages now, so please let us know about any
suggestions you have about how the site works or any bugs you find. There
will be many more features added soon.

    - If you have questions about Groupedia please send them to
webmaster@groupedia.com or to me at charles@groupedia. Erik Boralv has
agreed to let the group try the site out but he's terribly busy right now
and can't answer questions about groupedia anyway.

    - I have taken a stab at organizing some of the emails over the past 48
hours. But I will be honest - I don't know as much about acid jazz as I
had thought. (My tastes actually go more towards trance.) So I may have
mis-labeled some things. You can let me know or change things yourself,
which is the whole point of the tools.

    - If there are some members who would like to help out with the process of
organization please let me know. We will set you up as "facilitators" and
you can approve changes and submissions from other members and just help
    out in general organization.

If you get a chance, please do check out the site at www.groupedia.com and
play around with it a bit. New messages are in "unsorted messages" and
    some I have sorted.

Thanks for your patience with this long email and any help you can give.
