    Keyser & Shuriken - newsletter #32: What's going on

    Newsflash 08.09.2000

    Dear friends,

Two more weeks have gone since our last newsletter. Since then happened a
lot of things to us: first of all our studio has moved to a new place. From
the beginning of September the legendary Radio Tilos of Budapest broadcast
no more on 98 FM, but on cable and internet - hopefully only for a short
period. Anyway, this is a loss for a lot of citizen of Budapest, but in a
few months we will be able to reach a lot more people via cable than ever
before. The Tilos non-profit organisation will also open its new base in a
few weeks, which will be not only our stuido but a cinema and a venue for
every kind of cultural events. So we keep spreading the word.

Because of changing to a new, 24-hours-a-day broadcasting the previous week
we had four shows altogether. In the future on the Tilos Radio
(http://tilos.hu) we will have two weekly shows, one music program called
Crystal Garden (every Wednesday from 00:00 till the early morning
(http://tilos.hu/musorok/kristalykert/index.html) and one talk show about
all the cultural happenings of our capital on Thursdays
(http://tilos.hu/musorok/telibe_vagy/index.html - clicking on the links you
can expect a lot of Hungarian words). More news: our Astro Jazz Lounge
events start again from the next week at a new venue called Trend Cafe (on
    every Wednesday evening).

This week's short reading is a quote from Kurt Vonnegut, one of Keyser's
favourite writers. His point of view may be pessimistic, but sometimes, if
you look around what's happening in the world, it just seem to be so
    real...

"Artists use frauds to make human beings seem more wonderful than they
really are. Dancers show us human beings who move much more gracefully than
human beings really move. Films and books and plays show us people talking
much more entertainingly than people really talk, make paltry human
enterprises seem important. Singers and musicians show us human beings
making sounds far more lovely than human beings really make. Architects
give us temples in which something marvelous is obviously going on.
Actually, practically nothing is going on."
[Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. Wampeters, Foma and Granfallons, When I Was Twenty-One
    (1974)]

Anyway, keep on seeing things optimistic till next week!
