    The film depicts the January 1, 1923 massacre of citizens in the prominent
    Black township of Rosewood, Florida. Recent history shows how a White mob
    destroyed the self-sufficient Black community and how dozens of Black women
    and children had to flee in fear into nearby swamps to escape the heinous
    assaults.

    The Sankofa Film Series will be held on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Fridays of
    each month. The film series will showcase films that encourage dialogue,
    spark debate, enchance critical thinking, educate, and entertain.
