    just some I would recommend:

    - Cheo Feliciano "Salsa Caliente De Nu York!" 2000 (compilation)
    - Nu Yorica Roots! - The Rise of Latin Music in New York City in 1960`s
    (Soul JAzz)
    - Nu Yorican Funk Experience (ray barretto, tito puente etc..)
    - Santana 1969
    - Santana (III) 1971
    - also look for Blue Notes mid price series, containing word "latin":)

    good luck!

I'm looking for pointers to the world of Latin Jazz music, but finding
there's a lot out there and not sure where to start. Recommendations on
some good compilations wanted, as well as "classic" albums. I've got Latin
Spectrum on BBE and a verve collection "more than mambo". What are the best
starters for Cal Tjader, Tito Puente, etc? Also any good informative web
sites out there? Any info appreciated!

    Thanks
    Rochelle

BTW, on high rotation at the moment:
    Modaji
    Underwolves - Under Your Sky
Jazzanova - Reworks from Japan 12"
    Jon Lucien - Rasheeda
    Chateau Flight - Puzzle
    Herbert - Bodily Functions
