A quick rundown of what I've picked up of late and my happiness with it:

Xploding Plastix "Doubletalk EP" - you might have heard their outstanding
tune on the groove dis 2 sampler. From Oslo, (the new place to be? - check
bugge, beady belle, etc.), this Ep is taken from the full length (cd only?)
LP on Beatservice. If you're like me - cheap and a vinyl snob - you'll be
happy with this 4 tracker. Jazzy, crashing, well programmed drums - cool
hip-hop sensibilities and an overall uncannily organic vibe abound here.
Groove Dis has pressed this one up themselves for the US - big up!

Mr. Dibbs & Habitat Present "Primitive Tracks" - Turntablist Mr. Dibbs from
the 1200 Hobo's does more than just scratch real good. He is a dj in the full
sense of the word - mixing well thought out odd combinations of sounds and
music over raw beats. The effect is a wonderfully disorienting and jam packed
40 minutes of flavor. Perhaps not as mind boggling as his earlier mixtapes
but you won't be disappointed if you like stuff like this - bomb records and
such. The live in Nashville "Ultimate Breaks and Beats 2" is a feast.

LadyVIPD - LP - this has been discussed so I'll only add my thumbs up to this
one. One or two songs lost me but the rest is pure genius - shiki, downbeat,
broken beat, jazzy percussions - all with the mr fulton slightly twisted
touch. i really dug the vocals of wanda felicia on here as well.

Children of the PLanet Earth - You are the Future (lego/guiro mixes) - a
massive tune on gworldwide of late. The guiro mix is out of this world. Pure
leftside madness that builds and builds and when the chorus hits 5 minuites
in you're hands will be in the air. (solemusic)

Big Bossa - Catford Classics vol 1. - 4 tracker on new london label Vivtor.
You might have heard the hype over the track Carnival Espirito, but this
whole set is a winner. I'm not sure where this producer came from - simon
ashton - but he has placed himself squarely among the best of the latin
nubeat massive. For real, do not sleep on this one.

Quintessence EP - I buy just about anything on Dorado and the lack of recent
output besides Outside had been worrying me. However, this strong 4 track EP
confirms my faith in their uk version of soul music. I believe they are
Finnish. The flugelhorn, keys, guitar and beat programming are really great.
Think Omar or the recent Allsion David - but better!

Sound Species - First Species EP - Another label debut - Species. Great
hip-hop influenced downtempo release. Clever beats and breaks that you'll
recognize, though you won't be annoyed as I sometimes am with this blatant
hip-hop sampling. The jazzy sensibility we all know and love is here as well
with some nice live touches on the keys.

Off Centre 3LP - new Patrick Forge/Ross Clarke compilation on BBE. That
should be enough to send you off to the stores but that fact that I doubt
that anyone will have more than one of the tracks previously is a great
reason as well. I'm especially fond of the Da Lata - Binti offcentre mix,
Sleep Walker's massive nujazz - Ai-no-kawa, phoojun - rainbow and the
    corrina joseph cut.

Tiny Trendies - The Sky is Not Crying - After loving their Minus 8 remix, I
was lucky to find their Nuphonic 12" from late 99. This is a great afro
house jam, which features a nice Swag remix on the flip. Anyone know of any
    other work they've done?

VA - Playtime - this looked to be the best of the recent Superclasse
compilations looking back to the mid 70's and it did more than not
disappoint. This truly is a spectacular compilation that shows us the roots
of the music we are all diggin today. Almost every track was a real find for
me - sure to send me to the record store looking for old Fania releases and
    such.

Galera - Jinga (Rainy City) - My local store recently had a bunch of recent
Rainy City 12's on sale. This is by far the best. Mad warrior-esqu afro-latin
    jam.

    matt
